Journey

12:45 Arrived in Newry bus station.

Headed south on minor road towards Flagstaff.

Army observation posts visible on most hilltops eg Cloghoge Mountain.

14:00 Arrived in Flagstaff and ate lunch.

Noted frequent army helicopter activity.

Headed for Clontygora along road.

Walked up hill on bearing 236 degrees towards border.

Crossed border stream.

Walked south along road for a bit.

Walked through dense foreston bearing 232 until reaching forest path.

Walked South in direction of Marble Bridge.

16:00 Arrived in Marble Bridge picnic area.

Tried to hitch to Dundalk, but ended up walking whole way.

18:00 Arrived in Dundalk.

Conclusion

If border is patrolled suggest not to travel through border towns.
Start further into country and also travel parrallel to border until
out of populated areas.
