By theorizing, discussing, and above all with political discourses,
the words had been emptied of its meaning, disconnected from the
practice that originates it and only in which context its meaning
could be fulfilled.
The words has to be reinvented in practice. Get out to the street,
practice, experiment and get to the word again from this experience.
Some of these words are: public, freedom, justice, participation, etc, etc
So, this method starts with a practice. For the experimenting area had
been chosen the waterfront area of Greenpoint which streets whose
names following alphabetical order (Ash, Box, Clayer, Dupont...) end
up as dead ends stopped by industrial and storage enclosures placed
along the river side, never really giving access to the water.
Sunday promenade by the Waterfront was organized following the streets
in Alphabetical order and trying to get access to the water and
connect this accesses by the waterside with people coming in and out,
doing random interpretation of daily newspapers, playing with found
ojects, chatting with occasional passengers, neighbors and workers...
On the way different audio/video material has been documented and
lately organized in short abstract sequences (of few seconds)
corresponding to the letter of the initial of the street name where
the action took place.
In this way there is several a/v clips/variations that correspond to
each letter.
Next step would be creating a "random cryptogram machine" where for
the visualization of video the observer could type or introduce any
kind of text in adequate place on interface and by random selection a
video result should be generated combining short sequences that
correspond to the letters in the introduced text.
In this way short abstract sequences could combine and get some
unexpected meaning in derive.
This cryptographic machine could be used also for sending secret
messages, where the film could be de-codified back in to the text.
