STORM, RETURN HOME
and other scary tales for children

In late winter 2005, I learned to crochet, once again with Nana, while walking around Lipovica and discussing how houses were built.

My first experiments followed the stories she told me about how she had designed and, with the help of bricklayers and neighbours gathered in a moba1, built a house for Great-Grandmother Stana, her mother-in-law, in Jabučje in the summer of 1961.

1 Moba — a traditional form of collective mutual aid, in which relatives, neighbours and friends gather to carry out major tasks such as harvesting or building a house.
